AMD Material - A Typeface made out of Found Objects.

AMD Material is a unique font family created by a team of 24 students (Alec, Alicia, Ben, Carole, Cynthia, Elv, Emiliana, Irene, Jolina, Julie, Jule, Leonie, Lici, Livia, Louis, Marielle, Merle, Mimi, Morgane, Nola, Sarah, Sina, Stefano, Yona) during the Sustainability Workshop by Lukas Marstaller and Jonas Luyten, at Akademie Mode & Design in Berlin. By gathering discarded materials, physically constructing every single letter by hand, and photographing the students converted found objects into digital glyphs, forming a font family of 12 distinct styles.

The workshop started with a visit to the Haus der Materialisierung at Alexanderplatz, focusing on working with reused materials as a basis for type design. From the materials selected by the 24 students, they constructed upper and lowercase letters, using at least four materials per letter.
Each glyph was then arranged on green paper sheets and photographed, then edited digitally and turned into font files.

Each student's group was instructed to form a full alphabet, including special characters, numbers and punctuation. When put together, these individual alphabets form the AMD Material font family of aproximately 400 glyphs total.
